Five things you can do right now to help wildlife around your home and neighborhood.
1. Refill a bird bath or hang a bird feeder
A simple birdbath with fresh water or a feeder filled with seed can help birds and small wildlife stay hydrated and nourished. To keep them healthy, be sure to clean feeders and water sources regularly to prevent the spread of disease.
2. Pick up litter during your walk
Plastic, glass and other trash can harm animals in parks and neighborhoods. A quick clean-up keeps them safe.
3. Plant native flowers and shrubs
Native plants provide essential food and shelter for local wildlife, including birds, butterflies and bees. By incorporating native species into your garden, you support biodiversity and help maintain healthy ecosystems
4. Leave out fresh water on a hot day
Set a bowl in a shaded area for neighborhood pets, stray animals or wildlife passing through.
5. Put decals or stickers on your windows
They deter birds from flying into the glass.
