Do coffee and kindness go together? You could say that because of the rich number of specialized coffee roasters who have paired their passion for a great cup with their passion for helping animals.
We’ve included a list of a lot of these small but significant companies below. Some of them sell only on their website; others even sell on Amazon. Time to wake up and save lives!
- Bulldog Brew, Kansas City, Mo, This Midwestern shop supports rescue organizations in Kansas City and its surrounding areas. You can purchase coffee online.
Cat Rescue Coffee Company: Dedicated to the feline community, they direct 20 percent of profits to no-kill shelters, foster care and cat rescue operations. Selling tea as well as coffee. - Coffee Yan & Paws Co., Frisco, Texas: The owners of Coffee Yan & Paws Co. run a rescue and donate a portion of sales from every pound of coffee sold to no-kill shelters in their area.
- Dog Rescue Coffee Company: Founded by college student Oliver Carson in honor of his furry friend. This company has many breed-specific brands as well as dog treats, with 20 percent of its profits donated to rescue organizations.
- Flip Coffee, Southern California: Named after the rescue dog of animal advocates Rocky Kanaka and his wife Kelly. Flip went from being a sick shelter dog to a mentor and guide to all foster dogs Rocky and Kelly brought into their home, teaching them how to trust and embrace life again just as he did. His legacy is celebrate
d by rehabilitating shelter dogs and giving them a second chance. - Grounds & Hounds Coffee Co., Los Angeles: This brand donates a portion of all proceeds (and 100 percent of the profits from its Rescue Roast) to animal rescue organizations and no-kill shelters. They also have brewing gear, glassware, treats and apparel.
- Hugo Coffee Roasters, Park City, Utah: Founded by a former animal rescue operator, they roast fair-trade, organic coffee and donate $2.50 from every product purchased to a rescue of the donor’s choosing. They also have merch, including mugs, T-shirts and caps. They are also associated with Fluffy Cow Coffee, a brand that donates $2.50 per item sold specifically to farm animal sanctuaries across the country.
- Kitty Town Coffee, Lebanon Pa: The company was named after the owner’s two cats, who they say were really in charge of the house. Their mission is to feed homeless kitties everywhere, with a portion of each sale going directly to shelter partners’ general fund.
- Puppy Paws Coffee & Tea Co, New Orleans: Run by a mother and her two daughters. PPC&C supports shelters and appreciates their employees’ and volunteers’ hard work by donating a full 50 percent of all profits to rescue organizations! As the name says, they offer both coffee and tea.
- Rescue Pup Coffee Co.: Since 2020, they’ve been donating 10 percent of each purchase to dog rescue organizations. Also sells tea. Roasted and shipped within 3-5 days of ordering.
- Shelter Dog Coffee, Phoenix, Az: A small-batch artisanal company passionate about specialty-grade coffee and driven by a mission to support local shelter dogs. Ten percent of every sale is donated to support the lifesaving work of Heidi’s Village, a Phoenix-based community-driven hub for collaboration, innovation and lifesaving support uniting rescue organizations, sharing resources and inspiring new solutions. They also run special fund-raising campaigns throughout the year to provide food, shelter, medical care, and essential supplies for dogs waiting for a second chance.
