John Enger brings his 19-year-old golden retriever to the lake every day to give him a couple of hours’ sleep. Shep cannot sleep at home because of the arthritis in his joints. It keeps him up all night.
But floating on the lake, with the gentle lapping of the water, helps. So Enger carries his best friend to the lake every day, holding Shep in his arms to give him a few hours of rest and dreams. Shep once saved him from suicide. This is not a sacrifice. This is pure human-animal love.
Thank you, John.
